Profono is a discrete analogue turntable cartridge amplifier, carefully designed to incorporate premium grade components and quality materials throughout at a remarkably affordable pricepoint.
For integrated amplifiers and preamps without phono stages – or for instances where built-in phono stages are lacking in confidence – Profono can be directly connected to tone arms to run in-line between the turntable and any free auxiliary amplifier channel. Three settings are then available to set the correct cartridge gain, including 50dB for moving coil; 61dB for high-moving coil, and 41dB for moving magnet applications.
Care and attention has been paid to every facet of the Profono's design, including shunt resistors in place of the more familiar dip-switches to retain signal purity, and a rigid aluminium case to protect internal components and reject RFI radio frequency interference. Profono's power supply unit is also housed in a separate module connected via a detachable cable to minimise noise and distortion during use.
