This month IsoAcoustics have announced a brand new addition to their long-running and highly popular Aperta series of home audio isolation stands.
Going Large
Aperta Sub XL is an innovative decoupling tool aimed at larger subwoofers up to a mighty 72kg. The stand is sculpted from aluminium in a low profile design which aims to seamlessly integrate with the underside of any large-scale sub without interfering with its existing feet.
Let’s Talk Low End
The human ear is hard-wired to focus on bass tones over all other frequency ranges. While subwoofers are an excellent way to engage listeners with their favourite music or films, the huge amount of low-end energy created also causes frequencies to be cast into the sub's underlying surfaces, which is then reflected back into the cabinet causing unwanted vibrations and an anti-soundstage phenomenon known as smear.
Utilising patented isolating technology, the Aperta Sub XL stand allows its respective subwoofer to operate without any upward reflections into the cabinet, ensuring that no additional frequencies are added to the soundstage with a massive boost in clarity.
Good for Floors, Good for Neighbours
The Aperta Sub XL ships with a full set of carpet spikes to accommodate higher-shag pile carpets and give the stand optimum stability.
In use, the Aperta Sub XL should be situated with the IsoAcoustics logo facing forward. This ensures that lateral movements are correctly avoided and keeps the subwoofer in the correct listening position at all times even during higher volume moments.
While such a high degree of isolation dodges upward reflections and helps maintain a pristine sound stage, it also reduces resonant frequencies being cast into the floor and beyond. For listeners in apartments and condominiums where structures are frequently closely interlinked - this can only be a good thing.
Arriving June 2023
Aperta Sub XL will be leaving the shores of Canada from the very end of May. For details on pricing or to become an IsoAcoustics Home Audio dealer, contact our sales team.
