Black Lion Bluey Analogue FET Limiting Amplifier

Bluey is an analogue FET limiting amplifier based on a favourite 1176 compressor from Chris Lord-Alge's Mix L.A. studio. Of four original units in Lord-Alge’s possession, this particular blue-striped custom modified model shone through as a firm favourite and has been featured on thousands of vocal recordings over the past decade.

  • Fully discrete design
  • Through hole components
  • Polyester capacitors
  • Vintage inspired one-sided PCB layout
  • Cinemag remake of original UTC transformer
  • Wet/Dry mix feature
  • Linear power supply
  • Precise meter calibration

The Bluey is built on a fully discrete design and features standard balanced 3-pin XLR ins and outs as well as an RCA stereo link for daisy chaining two units together in stereo.

Dedicated Mix Knob

In addition to the standard issue 1176 attack, release and ratio controls, Black Lion have also included a wet/dry mix knob - a feature first implemented with the Seventeen series compressor. This gives engineers the opportunity to dial the dry signal back in whenever desired and balance the amount of compressed signal to their liking.
