Multiband Expander is a tool for frequency-sensitive processing to suppress unwanted noise in audio tracks.
The plugin employs a three-way crossover network with phase coherence to channel audio via 3 independent expanders. Once configured and engaged, noise can be smoothly suppressed below any user-specified threshold.
This technique can also be applied to softer elements of music to alter the feel of more rhythmic patterns.
Unlike earlier versions of the plugin, Metric Halo's v4 edition now includes native support for VST3, welcoming up-to-date Cubase and Nuendo users directly to the Multiband universe.
Multiband control allows for incredibly precise noise attack without impacting the desired signal. This is particularly useful for live instrument tracks such as guitar where noise and hum can be surgically eliminated.
Multiband Expander's spectral analysis function is powered by Metric Halo's popular SpectraFoo technology, whereby crossover and threshold points can be easily scoped with stunning speed and confidence.
