Last month owners of Digital Audio Labs 'Livemix’ series personal monitoring hardware were treated to a couple of eagerly anticipated features in a newly released firmware upgrade. For those of you who haven’t yet taken the plunge, here’s a quick recap on the new improvements that are included.

Stereo Groups
This feature furnishes Livemix users with the ability to connect two channels together. Up to 12 stereo paired channels can be created via the group setup feature in addition to the 5 existing multi-channel groups.* Once the new Livemix firmware update has been installed, simply press the ME button to access the Group Setup Panel and start pairing up!
* Channels can only be a part of one group (including a stereo group) at a time.
Volume Scaling
Volume scaling is a tool for imposing simultaneous control over all channels by adding them to a temporary group. If users are attempting to separate or boost a certain channel from a mass of inputs all registering 75%, volume scaling is a simple way to create an extra boundary of headroom by bringing all channels down so that the master volume can be adjusted up. Once this has been done, any specific channels in need of an extra boost have adequate headroom to do so.
To activate volume scaling, simply hold the ADJUST knob for 5 seconds to put all channels into a temporary group, and ADJUST a second time to exit.
Other Improvements
- The Master EQ section is now sweepable - hold the button of each Master EQ band (High, Mid, Low) to enable.
- Mute and Solo toggle settings are now retained between sessions.
- Short and Medium reverb sounds have been tweaked to be more user-friendly.
- The metronome sound has been treated to a facelift and no longer sounds as tonal.
- Support has been added for the new Livemix EXP2 Dante Card.
