Slate’s FG-36A plugin is based on an iconic and rock-solid 1970s hardware exciter. Featuring an intuitive dual-control interface, the 36A adds presence to instruments, elevation to high-end and a revitalising sheen to the definition of any track. Exciters such as the FG-36A are used to great effect in restoring old media but are also great tools for adding energy and shimmer to new material.

As soon as the interface is loaded, the amount of effect can be applied in using the FG-36A’s intensity knob. The Output control can then be used to trim or boost the channel’s volume as necessary, and in a matter of seconds the plug in is dialled-in and ready to go.

Reliable exciters are a must for modern studios. In lieu of a huge vintage-gear budget and stacks of time for maintenance thereafter, Slate have delivered a tool that replicates the iconic sound that brought so many classic 1970s recordings back to life.
