Slate Digital’s Virtual Preamp Collection (or VPC) is made up of two highly coveted classic preamps, meticulously modelled to capture every possible aspect in an effort to deliver the familiar analogue vibe known across some of the greatest musical pieces of the last 4 decades.
Providing subtle colouration all the way up to saturation and even distortion, the FG-73 and FG-76 preamp models both achieve proper gain staging thanks to Slate Digital’s Virtual Drive function which increases input gain whilst compensating with an automatic output trim.
For fast working engineers who need an agreeable vibe on a track or mix quickly, this is a powerful timesaver.
The FG-73 preamp circuit emulates a particular classic English console preamp from the mid 1970s. With a sound as good as it looks, FG-73 can add much needed punch to bring a vocal or instrument to the forefront of a mix.
Warm and colourful, the FG-76 module is based on an American-made vintage tube preamp. Bass recordings and kick drum can be brought beautifully to life thanks to the FG-76’s delicate saturation of the low end.
