Existing fans of the SPL range will be familiar with their proprietary Phonitor Matrix technology which allows headphone mixing in an emulated configuration similar to mixing on speakers angled towards the listener. With the Marc One this tech is built directly into the headphone amplifier section, and can be adjusted using a Crossfade control pot on the front of the unit.
Marc One’s versatile array of routing options allows connectivity for two separate switchable speaker sets along with a single sub added to the first where required.
The monitor switcher section's third ‘mute’ setting allows for silencing of the outputs without the need to adjust the main volume pot’s position.
On the rear of the unit Marc One features a USB connection compatible with both PC and Mac, and two analogue stereo inputs for connecting source components such as analogue mixers, preamps, samplers or MP3 players.
Designed around the next generation AK4490 converter chip, Marc One is capable of premium 32-bit DA and AD conversion thanks to AKM’s Velvet Sound technology built into every DAC board.
The result is playback that sheds light on even the finest detail of material while keeping distortion at an impressively low threshold. Sampling frequencies of up to 768kHz PCM are supported (sixteen times the resolution of CDs) and Direct Stream Digital playback is covered up to DSD4 or DSD256.
