Volume8 offers attenuation at the analogue level without touching bit-rate or conversion, thus offering a truer canvas on which engineers can build and judge their mix.
Volume8’s true analogue attenuation offers considerable advantages over most built-in volume controls from modern converters and sound cards. The majority of these devices forego analogue volume potentiometers and instead control volume at the conversion output stage.
The result is a varying signal level from the converter causing a net loss of audio quality and lower bitrates disrupting monitoring accuracy.
Extending the scope of the smaller Volume2 volume controller, Volume8 harnesses the power of DB25 (commonly known as D-Sub) to offer 8 simultaneous channels of inputs and outputs. D-Sub connectors are a popular choice for larger scale interfaces from brands such as Metric Halo, making connecting multiple channels via a single pin configured multicore cable a breeze.
